Magic Montenegro

Montenegro is a small, cosy country surrounded by rocky mountains and an azure sea, dotted with sparkling rivers, rich in crystal lakes, and full of archaeological and historical-cultural monuments.

Located in the southwest of the Balkan Peninsula, this country, with an area of ​​only 13,812 sq.  kilometres, has:

  • mountain ranges (legendary Durmitor);
  • central plain;
  • lakes (many of which are natural monuments);
  • rivers (the most extended Tara).

On the southwest side, Montenegro is washed by the Adriatic Sea.

Montenegro's geographical diversity contributes to forming three climatic zones (mountainous, coastal and continental), which makes this country attractive for tourists with different preferences. For alpine skiing lovers, lovers of soaking up the gentle sea waves, eco-tourism lovers, and lovers of good rest and health improvement - there is a comfortable rest area for everyone in Montenegro.

The Herceg Nova Riviera lies within the Bay of Kotor, recognized as one of the most beautiful bays on the planet. The most popular resorts of the Herceg Nova Riviera are Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi. The resort town of Kotor, founded in the era of Ancient Rome during the Byzantine Empire, was an independent city-state. In the Renaissance, it fell under the rule of Venice, which affected its cultural heritage and architecture. The resort has practically no beaches but is famous for its stately cathedrals and architectural monuments with a pronounced Byzantine and Romanesque influence.

The most interesting to visit will be the Cathedral of St. Tryphon, where you can admire the frescoes of the XIV century, gold and silver items made by masters of the period of the XIV - XVIII centuries, and visit the tomb of the saint. Tourists will be equally interested in the Church of the Holy Mother of God on the Reef, the island of St. George, the Church of St. Luke, the Church of St. Mary, the Church of St. Rosita, and many other historical sights. In addition, an enchantingly colourful festival is held annually in Kotor.

Of all the resorts of the Budva Riviera, Budva is rightfully called the most important tourist centre. This is a city with very ancient architecture. The old part of the city, which has a picturesque church, is notable. The Old Fortress is located in the new part of the city. Not only lovers of antiquity will be able to appreciate Budva fully, but also adherents of active, fun recreation. There are many hotels, villas, and rooms for rent for every taste and budget. The main resort street with restaurants, cafes, discos and various attractions runs parallel to the dam. And, of course, the beaches: Slavyansky, Pisana, Mogren, Guvantse and others. A visit to the main attraction of Montenegro, the Ostrog monastery, will cause a feeling of genuine delight and awe. Carved high in the rock, it is visible from afar. Pilgrims come here to worship the relics of St. Basil.

The small town of Zabljak is a very famous ski resort in Europe. It is located in the centre of Durmitor (a mountain range in Montenegro) and has everything you need to meet a skier's needs. The developed infrastructure allows you to organize recreation that meets the standards. Tourists will receive rental points, a team of instructors, and well-equipped ski slopes.

Three times, the Turks tried to take possession of this city; each time, they suffered a fiasco. As the centre of the struggle for independence from the Turkish invaders, Cetinje became a symbol of the heroism, courage and patriotism of the Montenegrins.
