BGD (Bruce Goldsmith Design) has officially launched the DUAL 3, the next-generation tandem paraglider that’s already making waves across professional paragliding communities worldwide. Designed from scratch, this model replaces the highly successful Dual 2, offering significant improvements in launch characteristics, handling, and glide performance.
The dual 3 isn’t just a revision — it’s a ground-up reimagining of what tandem pilots truly need. With over 10 years of development lineage, Bruce Goldsmith and his design team have delivered a wing that caters to commercial tandem professionals, instructors, and adventurous recreational pilots who demand both performance and peace of mind.
“The dual 3 brings together everything we’ve learned in the last decade,” says Bruce Goldsmith, founder and lead designer. “It’s easier to launch, smoother in the air, and incredibly efficient.”
Refined for Professionals, Ready for Anything
The new glider features a lower aspect ratio (5.5) compared to its predecessor, giving it more agile and coordinated turns — a crucial advantage for ridge soaring or thermalling with a passenger. Launching has also been improved thanks to refined line geometry and cell pressure optimisation, making inflation predictable even in variable alpine winds or coastal breeze conditions.
With a glide ratio of 9.3, EN B certification, and a trim speed range that stretches up to 52 km/h, the dual 3 is poised to be a favourite for schools and tandem businesses seeking an efficient, reliable workhorse.
Built to Last, Designed to Fly More
Constructed using Dominico DOKDO-30D and 20D materials, the dual 3 balances lightness and durability, weighing around 7.1 kg in its standard 40 m² size. Reinforced ribs and a carefully engineered internal structure promise long-term reliability even under the strain of high-frequency commercial use.
The glider comes in three sizes — 37, 40, and 42 m² — covering a weight range from 100 to 230 kg, giving pilots flexibility depending on payload and conditions.
Early Feedback Is Overwhelmingly Positive
Tandem pilots in the Alps, Himalayas, and South America have already begun reporting exceptional flight experiences.
“Take-offs are silky smooth, turns are intuitive, and the wing holds solidly even in midday thermals,” says Diego A., a tandem guide flying from Medellín, Colombia. “I’ve already ordered two more.”
Paragliding schools have also highlighted how the wing performs well during beginner tandem experiences, noting its forgiving stall behaviour and excellent feedback during brake input.
